No doubt fashionista's all over the town have switched from their 4-inch heels to flats and are running between runway shows. Get ready ladies and gents because it's time to start looking at the new collections for....

Let's start with one famous and one not so famous designer for women's wear.
BCBG mans Bon Chic, Bon Genre for those who aren't in the know. They have certainly become quite visible in the fashion industry and well know for their daring clothing for juniors and young jet setters. But times change and now everyone is wearing BCBG and their runway show reflects that with a little bit more of a timeless style for the year to come. The collections so far have reflected a minimalist attitude with small splashes color and generally neutral colors. The main word du jour for Spring 2009, draping!

Here BCBG presents us with a white and silver piece that has a slightly sheer front and is draped on both sides bringing the hem in to the knees in a perfect reverse A-line silhouette.

For a more tailored look we have a take on business wear with tidy draped material brought to a twist in the middle this time belted to emphasize the feminine flair in a neutral gray. The matching bag with chain shoulder strap breaks up any monotony to this outfit adding the perfect flair.

And lastly BCBG brings us a bit of fresh color in coral. Again the material is gracefully draped and pinned across the model bringing an elegant look form to her body reminiscent of Grecian goddess with a twist of modern passion. The hint of gray at her hemline brings a neutral break in the dress that adds attention to detail making it fashion forward.

If you are looking at more of a modern look with a flair Michael Angel has brought his take on Spring to the runway with sweeping chiffon dresses that are a little bit retro and little bit now.

Only the fierce need apply to wear this. Super charged, this black and white patterned dress is unique but still follows the trend we have seen with draping, yet this time in chiffon and a little bit of bravery. Subduing his creativeness he also has opted to create this simple, yet flawless dress in a multi-colored hue.

A very sleek fitting one shouldered number with a chiffon overlay leaves this both high end and casual enough for a walk in central park. It adds grace to what would be an otherwise simple dress by adding a multi-hued overlay to a neutral sheath. If you are more comfortable in pants, like I am, then you might appreciate something like this that is both timeless and slightly daring for Spring 2009.

The belted sheer shirt keeps you cool while the fitted sating pant and over laying vest add some style to your frame. It remains chic yet simple by taking multiple materials and working with the combination to make a full outfit. The sparkling beaded belt adding just enough to make it interesting with fading into neutrality.

As much as I would love to cover just the pretty things for girls there are many men out there that have beyond a simple style. Being a fashion and label whore is no longer left to women as men have for the first time in a few centuries, started to become very aware of how they dress and creating a personal style. Perry Ellis is one of the few designers who are aware of that, creating collection purely for men.
Time to drop the neon from your wardrobe guys and stow the bold colors for another 10 years. With a failing economy women's collections aren't the only ones who have gone neutral. In fact in a bold move Perry Ellis brought back pastels.

Simple and sleek with a dash of conservative is not just for Parisians and Italians anymore. In a bold move with menswear Perry Ellis has brought South Hampton, NY into Spring 2009 for men. Blues, tans and even sherbet have snuck back into men's wardrobe with a masculinity that makes it worth wearing again.

Elegance and embellishment in this outfit work together in a symbiotic way. The plaid mixing with tan hue of the shirt works perfectly. It balances this outfit and lightens menswear up from the solid blacks and deep cobalt we have seen as of late.

Last but not least is the preppy look that we've seen in the Perry Ellis collection. It's finally okay for men to wear pink again in the fashion world and I love it. It's an attractive unisex color and mixed with tan it come out as masculine perfection instead of foppishness.

That's a fashion wrap for Friday. Until next week, leave us comments, your thoughts and we'll see you Monday!
